This role is for a car driver who can pick our food up from The Bread and Butter Thing warehouse in Eccles and drop it off at The Creative Living Centre in Prestwich. If it is your first time please email prestwich@foodcycle.org.uk for details and instructions . You will be the only person collecting the food that week so it is essential you are able to attend.
Before driving for FoodCycle, we need you read and agree to our Drivers policy at https://volunteer.foodcycle.org.uk/Volunteer-Drivers and fill in your driver information at https://volunteer.foodcycle.org.uk/volunteer-driver-information
These procedures have been supplied by The Bread and Butter thing and must be followed at all times:
We collect from The Bread and Butter Thing which is now moved to Lyntown Trading Estate, near Eccles.
Parking is available on site and on surrounding streets. Please use the car park on the right as you turn in. For safety reasons, do not park or drive across the main yard at any time – this is a busy area used by trucks and forklifts.
• New Site Safety:
• We will need to induct all of your volunteers and staff before they can enter our warehouse. This will be an important health and safety requirement, and we won't be able to allow access to anyone that hasn't been inducted.
• This should take no longer than 15 minutes, and is vital to keeping everyone safe within their new space.
• If it is you first time collecting, please contact ian@foodcycle.org.uk or carrielittlehales@foodcycle.org.uk so we can arrange a time with the warehouse for your induction.
Sign in at reception and make your self known to a member of staff before entering the warehouse.
A hi-vis jacket must be worn to enter the warehouse (this will be provided after you have signed in).
Safety boots must be worn to enter the warehouse (will Be provided if you don’t have your own).
If the forklift truck is in the yard you have to stand on the pavement and wait for it to leave.
If the forklift truck enters the warehouse you are required to wait outside the warehouse until it has left the building.
When collecting food place on to trays and do not discard any products on the floor we have a trolley you can use to transport crates around the warehouse off the floor and take them to your car.
Chilled product can only be collected if the persons collecting food have an appropriate insulation bag or cooling box to maintain cold chain.
Any issues please contact a member of staff during your visit.
Full session information (e.g. venue address/directions or virtual training link) will be sent to you by e-mail after you sign up.
