Check in and Chat Virtual Training
ABOUT THE SERVICE
75% of our guests have said that they often feel lonely. Check-in and Chat is a chance for our guests to have a conversation with our FoodCycle volunteers once a week, to feel connected to others, to chat about food, to learn about each other and share the joy of a great a chat.
Check-in and Chat is designed to be a fun and easy way to connect to someone new, each week. It's also a chance for you to provide guests with information on local organisations which can offer them further specialised support.
ABOUT THE TRAINING
Once you click 'sign up', you will be redirected to two short online videos that explain how the service works and how to make and log your calls. You will then be asked to complete a quick quiz to check you understand the service. Once you submit the quiz, you will be signed up to the Check-in and Chat Training.
The training will take place on Zoom and will cover all things safeguarding, boundaries and signposting. As a Check-in Phone volunteer you will be having one to one conversations with adults which is why it is important for you to understand your boundaries. This is for you to feel comfortable and knowledgeable when volunteering with us. This training is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about the service too!
All volunteers must complete this training in order to make calls. Joining instructions will be sent the day before (make sure you check your spam folder regularly).
