Some of the training below is only available for Check-in Phone Volunteers. If you would like to become a Check-in Phone volunteer, you will firstly need to attend this training.
MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS TRAINING VIDEO
We have now launched our Mental Health Awareness Training aimed at Check-in Phone volunteers! This training was created by our Safeguarding Consultant, Donna Sheldon, and it is a short 15 minute video which covers the basics of mental health awareness. You can access the online training video here.
PROFESSIONAL BOUNDARIES TRAINING VIDEO
This training has been designed to help FoodCycle volunteers understand, respect and maintain positive and professional working relationships and boundaries. You can access the online training video here.
SIGNPOSTING VIDEO TRAINING VIDEO
In this short training you will learn what signposting means in the context of FoodCycle's activities as well as how to identify and address the need for signposting. You can access the online training video here.
CONFLICT MANAGEMENT TRAINING
FoodCycle's Conflict Management training is designed to help FoodCycle Volunteers manage any conflict which may occur when speaking to guests. You can sign up to the training on this page.
In the meantime, you can view the conflict warning signs and use these calming strategies in the event of a conflicting call.
EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION AND LISTENING SKILLS

WELLBEING IN THE WORKPLACE TRAINING
Developed with the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, Wellbeing in the Workplace (formerly Wellbeing in the City) is an online learning programme which brings Samaritans’ listening and wellbeing expertise into the workplace. It teaches employees/volunteers the skills to look after their emotional health and look out for others, before they reach crisis point. You can sign up here.
SUICIDE AWARENESS

NUTRITION TRAINING
This training is to enable you to answer guest queries around food and provide general information about healthy food choices to guests during your calls. To take part in the training, please sign up here.

As a Check-in Phone Volunteer, you must follow our GDPR guidelines when hadnling guests' personal information. Please follow our Guest Data GDPR Policy and Procedure when handling data.
